Give It Forward: Giving as Network Marketing Leadership

Your breakthrough starts with the next decision. π±
In network marketing, most people make that decision about a product, a script, or a recruiting target. We want you to make a different one. Decide who you'll serve this month who can't buy anything from you.
That sounds backwards. It isn't. After two decades of coaching leaders, we've watched the same pattern repeat. The teams that last aren't built on the loudest launch. They're built by people who show up for their community when nobody is keeping score.
That's the heart of Give It Forward: Philanthropy and Community as Leadership. Here's what it looks like in practice.
π Giving Builds Trust Faster Than Pitching
Trust is the real currency in this business. You know it. Your prospects know it too, and they can smell a pitch from across the room.
When you organize a coat drive or sponsor a youth soccer team, people see your values before they hear your offer. That changes the whole conversation. You stop being "the person selling something" and become the person who helped feed 40 families at Thanksgiving.
One leader we coached started a monthly park cleanup with six team members. Within a year, 30 locals were showing up. She never pitched at those events. Still, four of those volunteers asked her about her business on their own.
Giving isn't a tactic. If you treat it like one, people will feel it. Do it because it matters, and the trust follows.
π€ Community Is Your Retention Plan
Recruiting gets the attention. Retention pays the bills.
Plenty of teams watch half their new members drift away within the first year. People rarely quit a company. They quit a lonely experience. When your team shares a cause, they share a reason to stay during the hard weeks.
Try this. Let your team vote on one cause each quarter. Set a small, concrete goal, like 200 hygiene kits for a local shelter or $1,000 for a school library. Build a packing night around it. Invite partners and kids.
You'll notice something. The quiet member who never speaks on team calls becomes the one coordinating supplies. Service gives people a place to lead before they feel ready to sell.
π§ Lead From Your Values, Not Your Rank
Rank titles are nice. Nobody follows a title for long.
Your team watches what you do with your time and money. If you talk about abundance but never give, they notice. If you quietly fund a scholarship or mentor a single parent, they notice that too.
In the course, we walk you through building a personal giving plan. It's simple. Choose a percentage of your monthly income to give, even if it starts at 2%. Pick one or two causes tied to your own story. Then track it the same way you track volume.
That last step matters. What you measure becomes part of your identity. When giving sits on the same dashboard as sales, it stops being an afterthought.
π Turn One Act Into a Ripple
This is where "give it forward" earns its name. Your real goal is to create more givers.
Teach your downline to run their own small projects. Let a new member lead a book drive in their first 90 days. Celebrate impact on your team calls the same way you celebrate rank advancements.
One giving leader becomes five. Five become twenty-five. It's the same duplication model you already use in your business, pointed at your community.
Over time, your team earns a reputation in town. Local businesses want to partner with you. Schools call you first when they need help. You can't buy that kind of goodwill with ad spend.
β¨ The Give It Forward Formula
Keep this one on a sticky note by your desk:
Awareness β Authenticity β Action
- Awareness: Notice the real needs in your neighborhood. Ask a teacher, a pastor, or a shelter director what they're short on right now.
- Authenticity: Choose causes connected to your story. If your mom beat cancer, that's your cause. Don't borrow someone else's.
- Action: Put a date and a number on it. "Help the food bank" is a wish. "Pack 300 meals on the 14th" is a plan.
Run this loop every quarter. Keep it small and consistent.
π What You'll Walk Away With
This course is for leaders who want a business they're proud of. You'll get frameworks for choosing causes, planning team service events, and talking about giving without it sounding like a brag post.
We also cover how to partner with local nonprofits, and how to keep your giving steady when income dips. Some months you'll give money. Some months you'll give hours. Both count.
You don't need a big budget. You need a decision and a calendar.
πΌ Start Giving It Forward
Your community is already waiting for someone to step up. Let that be you, and bring your team with you.
