Listen Like a Leader
This 7-day course rewires how you listen. You'll move from hearing words to catching meaning, hesitation, and what's not being said. Awareness of your listening gaps, Authenticity in how you show up in conversation, Action through daily practice with real team members. By day seven, you'll have captured three insights you would have missed last week.
Six shifts. One new you. π±
You'll notice tone shifts, pauses, and word choices that signal the real message underneath.
You'll stay present through full sentences and your responses will actually land because they're relevant.
You'll hold space after questions and after answers, giving people room to say what matters.
You'll replace advice-giving reflexes with curiosity that makes people feel heard and keeps them talking.
You'll document patterns across conversations and adjust your leadership based on what you're actually hearing.
People will start bringing you problems earlier and speaking more honestly because you've proven you listen.
- You've been leading for less than a year and realize people aren't as open with you as they were before the promotion
- You catch yourself giving solutions before the other person finishes explaining the problem
- You want your 1:1s to feel less like status updates and more like real conversations
- You suspect you're missing important signals because your team has learned to tell you what you want to hear
- β You're looking for scripts to control conversations rather than tools to understand people better
- β You think listening is something you already do well and just need your team to communicate more clearly
- β You're not willing to actually change how you show up in daily conversations with your reports
A curriculum designed to move you π§
Diagnose your current listening patterns. You'll map where you interrupt, assume, or drift, and identify the moments when your team stops being honest. Day 1 task gets you listening to one full answer without jumping in.
Learn to stay with the person in front of you instead of performing the role of listener. You'll practice holding silence, reflecting what you hear, and asking one more question before offering any solution. Real 1:1s become your practice field.
Install three micro-habits that make listening automatic: the five-second pause, the playback check, and the insight capture ritual. Every conversation this week becomes data about your team.
Connect what you've heard to how you lead. You'll review your week of captured insights, spot patterns across people, and make one visible change based on something you would have missed before this course. Your team sees the shift.

Coach
The Exponential Coach π€
The Exponential Coach has spent 20 years teaching leaders how to have the conversations that matter. This course is built from thousands of 1:1 debriefs with managers who thought they were good listeners until they learned what they were missing. The method inside comes from communication research, coaching practice, and the hard-earned lesson that listening is a skill you build through repetition, not a trait you either have or don't.
As a first-time leader, you don't need another framework to memorize. You need a practice you can start today and repeat until it's automatic. That's what this course gives you: seven days of structured listening practice with your actual team, built to rewire how you show up in every conversation from here forward.
Growth, in their own words π
Composite student voices representing typical outcomes.
"I realized I'd been treating 1:1s like interrogations. This course taught me to stop talking and actually hear what my team was trying to tell me. Within three days, one person told me something they'd been sitting on for weeks."
Priya Sharma, Team Lead, Munich (composite student voice)
"The five-second pause felt awkward at first, but it completely changed my conversations. People started finishing their thoughts instead of just giving me the surface answer. I'm catching problems earlier now because they trust I'll listen."
Marcus Chen, Engineering Manager, Singapore (composite student voice)
"I thought I was a good listener until I tracked how often I interrupted with advice. Day two was humbling. By day seven, my team was bringing me real issues instead of sanitized updates. The shift was visible."
Elena Rossi, Operations Lead, Milan (composite student voice)
FAQ β―οΈ
I already do 1:1s every week. How is this different from what I'm already doing?+
This course doesn't add meetings. It changes what happens inside the conversations you're already having. You'll learn to hear what people mean, not just what they say, and you'll practice that skill daily with your actual team. Most managers talk at people in 1:1s. You'll learn to listen to them.
What if my team isn't very talkative? Will this still work?+
Quiet teams are often quiet because they've learned their manager doesn't really listen. This course teaches you to create the space where talking feels safe. You'll use silence, better questions, and visible presence to show people it's worth opening up. The method works especially well with reserved team members.
I'm worried I'll look incompetent if I stop giving advice and just ask questions.+
Leadership isn't proving you have all the answers. It's helping your people find theirs. The course shows you how to listen actively without becoming passive, how to ask questions that guide without interrogating, and how to give space without disappearing. You'll still lead. You'll just lead better.
Can I do this course if I lead a remote or hybrid team?+
Yes. The listening principles work in person, on video, and in writing. You'll adapt the daily tasks to your team's reality. Remote listening has specific challenges (no body language, distraction risk, screen fatigue) and the course addresses all of them. Several tasks are designed specifically for video and async contexts.
What if I try the techniques and my team doesn't respond differently?+
If you genuinely practice the daily tasks, your team will notice within three days. Listening changes are highly visible because most managers don't do it well. If you're not seeing a response, the course includes troubleshooting prompts to help you diagnose whether the issue is your execution, team trust levels, or something else. Real behavior change produces real results. If it's not working, we help you figure out why.
