Emotional Authority in Relationships: Ride the Wave

Your breakthrough starts with the next decision. If you have emotional authority, that decision probably shouldn't happen tonight.

Roughly half of all people have a defined Solar Plexus in their Human Design chart. That makes emotional authority the most common decision style there is. It's also one of the most misunderstood, especially inside relationships.

You feel things in waves. On Monday you're certain you want to move in together. By Wednesday the idea makes your chest tight. On Saturday you feel calm and clear about it. None of those moments was wrong. Each one was a snapshot of a wave still moving.

Our course, Emotional Authority in Relationships, teaches you to ride that wave instead of drowning in it. Here's a preview of what we cover together.

🌊 There Is No Truth in the Now

Human Design teachers repeat this line to emotional types more than any other. When your Solar Plexus is defined, clarity arrives over time. It doesn't land in a single moment.

In a relationship, that matters a lot. Picture an argument at 10 p.m. You feel hurt, and you want to say "maybe we should take a break." At that peak, the sentence feels completely true. The next morning, after sleep and coffee, it sounds like a stranger said it.

The fix is simple to describe and hard to practice. Give important decisions at least one night. Bigger ones (a move, a proposal, a breakup) need several days or longer. Check in with yourself at the high, the low, and the middle of the wave. When your answer holds steady through all of it, you have clarity.

Try this for one week. Write down any relationship decision that comes up. Each morning, rate how sure you feel from 1 to 10. Watch the number move, then settle.

πŸ’– Your Partner Feels Your Wave Too

Emotional energy carries. If you're emotionally defined, the people closest to you pick it up, often before you say a word.

Partners with an open Solar Plexus tend to amplify what you feel. You might sit at a mild 4 out of 10 frustration. Your partner can feel it as an 8 and assume they caused it. That gap creates a lot of needless fights.

We teach a short script for this moment. "I'm in a low part of my wave. It isn't about you. I'll talk once it settles." Saying it out loud turns a mystery into information. Your partner stops guessing. You stop defending.

If you both carry emotional authority, the challenge looks different. Two waves rarely peak at the same time. One of you wants to talk tonight, and the other needs until Thursday. In the course, we map out how two emotional people can schedule hard conversations so nobody feels ambushed.

🧭 Pressure Is the Real Problem

Most emotional types don't make poor choices from a lack of insight. They make them because someone rushed them.

Relationships come with plenty of pressure. A partner asks if you're exclusive yet. A parent wants to know about the holidays by Friday. A date wants a yes on round two before the check arrives.

Your job is to protect your waiting time without turning cold. A few phrases that work:

    • "I like where this is going. Give me a couple of days to feel it through."
    • "I don't want to answer from a mood. Can I get back to you Friday?"
    • "My first reaction is yes. Let me make sure it's still yes tomorrow."

Notice that each one names a timeline. Waiting without a timeline can feel like avoidance to the other person. Waiting with one feels like respect.

🌱 Feeling Deeply Is Not a Flaw

Many emotional people grew up hearing they were too much. Too moody, too sensitive. So they learned to flatten the wave. They act calm and agree quickly. Months later, the buried feelings show up as resentment.

Human Design offers a kinder frame. Your emotional depth is a source of wisdom, as long as you let it finish speaking. The highs bring passion and connection. The lows bring honesty and discernment. You need both.

The course also walks through the three emotional wave types. The tribal wave builds slowly around touch and support. The individual wave can feel flat for a while, then spike without warning. The abstract wave rises with new experiences and drops when expectations go unmet. Once you know your type, your patterns stop catching you off guard.

    ✨ The Emotional Authority Formula

Here's the rhythm we practice throughout the course:

    Feel β†’ Name β†’ Wait β†’ Choose

Feel the wave fully, without acting on it. Name where you are (high, low, or neutral) to yourself and your partner. Wait until the answer stops shifting. Choose from the calm middle, then commit.

That last step matters most. Once an emotional type reaches real clarity, the decision tends to hold. You'll second-guess yourself far less, and your partner will learn to trust your yes.

    πŸš€ Start Riding the Wave

Emotional Authority in Relationships is for anyone who feels deeply and wants their relationships to feel steady. You'll get practical exercises, conversation scripts you can use tonight, and guidance for partners with different authorities.

You don't have to stop feeling. You just have to stop deciding mid-wave.
