The Subtraction Project
Removing What No Longer Serves
Powered by the Exponential Coach Methodology 🧭
Awareness → Authenticity → Action. Every course is built on the same proven loop that has guided 1,500+ leaders from stuck to unstoppable.
You've added so much to your life—skills, habits, goals, stuff—that you've buried the life you were building. 🪶
The Subtraction Project
The Subtraction Project is a 21-day mastery course that flips the script: growth through removal. You'll gain awareness of what's draining you without return, find the authenticity to let go even when others expect you to hold on, and take action by eliminating five real commitments, possessions, or habits. By the end, you'll document the capacity you reclaimed—and feel lighter than you have in years.
Six shifts. One new you. 🌱
Map every commitment, possession, and habit across seven life domains with brutal honesty.
Remove five specific things that no longer serve you and document the reclaimed time, energy, or space.
Master the skill of saying no to things others expect you to keep, without guilt or endless explanation.
Quantify exactly what you got back—hours per week, mental load points, physical space, or emotional bandwidth.
Install a repeatable system for regular life audits so accumulation never buries you again.
Experience firsthand that your best life isn't built by adding more—it's revealed by removing what hides it.
- You've done the work on goals, habits, and systems—but you're starting to wonder if the real problem is that you're carrying too much.
- You're successful by external measures but feel buried, and you suspect the next level requires subtraction, not addition.
- You're ready to let go of commitments, possessions, or habits that once served you but now just drain you—even if others don't understand.
- You want a structured process to identify what to remove and the backbone to actually do it, not another surface-level decluttering exercise.
- ✕ You're still in the phase where adding structure, habits, and goals is the work you need. This course assumes you've already done that.
- ✕ You're not willing to disappoint anyone or let anything go that might be useful someday. This course will frustrate you.
- ✕ You want theory and reflection without real eliminations. This course demands you actually remove five things during the 21 days.
A curriculum designed to move you 🧭
Days 1–6. Map everything you carry across work, relationships, possessions, digital, health, finances, and personal growth. See the accumulation clearly, without judgment or immediate action. Identify the dead weight you've been ignoring.
Days 7–12. Confront the beliefs that keep you holding on—sunk costs, guilt, others' expectations, your old identity. Rewrite the rules. Build the internal case for subtraction as an act of integrity, not failure.
Days 13–18. Remove five real things: resign from a committee, delete an app, end a draining habit, donate possessions, or cancel a recurring commitment. Document the process, the resistance, and what you reclaim.
Days 19–21. Measure the capacity you got back. Install a quarterly subtraction audit so you never bury yourself again. Celebrate the space, the clarity, and the life that's now visible.

Coach
The Exponential Coach 🤝
The Exponential Coach has spent twenty years helping high performers design lives they don't need to escape from. After watching hundreds of leaders add goal after goal, system after system, only to burn out under the weight, he developed the subtraction framework that underpins this course. His own life shifted when he eliminated a prestigious board role, twelve subscriptions, and a daily routine he'd outgrown—and discovered more energy, focus, and meaning in the space that remained. He's worked with over 1,500 leaders across seven countries, and the pattern is always the same: the people who grow the most aren't the ones who add the most. They're the ones who subtract with intention. This course distills two decades of that work into twenty-one days of structured removal.
Growth, in their own words 💖
Composite student voices representing typical outcomes.
"I eliminated a client contract I'd been dreading for two years, a storage unit full of things I never used, and three weekly commitments that drained me. I got back nine hours a week and remembered why I started my business in the first place."
Marcus Wei, consultant, Singapore (composite student voice)
"The subtraction protocol is now in my calendar every quarter. I've let go of a professional association membership, a friendship that had turned toxic, and a fitness routine I hated. I didn't realize how much energy I was spending on things I didn't even want anymore."
Nora Bachmann, executive, Zürich (composite student voice)
"This course gave me permission to disappoint people. I resigned from two volunteer roles and stopped attending a monthly networking event I'd been forcing myself to go to for three years. The guilt lasted two days. The relief is still here six months later."
David Okonkwo, entrepreneur, London (composite student voice)
FAQ ☯️
What if I can't think of five things to eliminate?+
The first six days are a full life inventory. You'll map commitments, possessions, habits, subscriptions, digital clutter, relationships, and recurring tasks. Most people finish Day 6 with a list of twenty or more candidates. The hard part isn't finding five—it's choosing which five to start with.
What if the things I need to let go of involve other people?+
Many do. You'll get exact scripts and frameworks for resigning from roles, ending commitments, and setting boundaries without burning bridges. The course doesn't teach you to ghost people—it teaches you to exit with integrity and clarity.
Is this just minimalism rebranded?+
No. Minimalism focuses on possessions. The Subtraction Project covers possessions, but also commitments, habits, relationships, digital overload, and identity clutter. It's life design through removal, not just a decluttering exercise.
What if I remove something and regret it?+
The course includes a structured decision protocol to minimize regret risk. You'll test reversibility, check for sunk-cost traps, and audit whether guilt is masking relief. That said, some decisions are bets. The course will teach you to make peace with that, because the cost of holding on is often higher than the cost of letting go.
I've done Marie Kondo, minimalism challenges, and time audits. How is this different?+
Those focus on single domains. This course integrates all seven life areas, ties eliminations to reclaimed capacity, and treats subtraction as an ongoing practice, not a one-time purge. You'll also confront the psychological and relational dimensions that surface-level decluttering ignores.
