Delegate to Grow: Hand Off Two Tasks for Good

🧭 The task list that never shrinks

You hire people. You still approve every invoice. You bring on a manager. You still write the client update yourself. Sound familiar?

Most founders don't have a hiring problem. They have a letting-go problem. The work gets passed down, then quietly climbs back up your desk two weeks later. We call that a take-back, and it's the quiet reason your calendar never opens up.

This program fixes exactly that. Not ten things. Two. You hand over two recurring responsibilities and you keep them handed over.

πŸ’Ό Why two, and why recurring

Start small on purpose. Recurring work is where the leverage lives, because a task you do weekly costs you 52 slots a year. Give away two of those and you've bought back roughly 100 blocks of your attention.

Pick tasks that repeat and drain you. A few founders in the program chose:

    • The Monday sales pipeline review
    • First-draft replies to support tickets
    • Weekly payroll approval
    • The client onboarding call

Notice these are boring and load-bearing. That's the sweet spot. Boring means the process can be written down. Load-bearing means handing it off actually frees you.

🌱 The reason handoffs fail (and it's not your team)

Handoffs collapse for three predictable reasons.

You hand over the task but not the decision rights. So your person does the work, then waits for your yes. You're still the bottleneck, just later in the day.

You never wrote down what "good" looks like. When you can't define the standard, you feel forced to check everything. That checking becomes a take-back.

You hover. The first mistake happens, you swoop in, and the message your team hears is clear: this was never really yours.

We address each one directly. You'll define decision rights on paper, write a one-page standard, and agree on a review rhythm before anything moves.

    🀝 The letting-go formula

Here's the spine of the whole program:

    Define β†’ Document β†’ Decide β†’ Detach

Define the task and what a good result looks like. Document the steps once so nobody reinvents it. Decide who owns it and what they can approve alone. Detach by moving to a scheduled check-in instead of live oversight.

That last D is where founders struggle most. Detaching feels like risk. It's actually the point. If you're still in the loop for every decision, you didn't delegate. You just relabeled the work.

✨ What the first 30 days look like

Week one, you pick your two tasks and the person for each. We give you a selection filter so you don't accidentally hand off the wrong thing.

Week two, you write the one-page standard together. Together matters. When your team helps build the standard, they own it faster.

Week three, they run it while you watch once, then step back. You'll want to jump in. You won't.

Week four, you review results against the standard, not against how you would have done it. Different is fine. Wrong is the only thing you correct.

By the end you have two responsibilities off your plate and a repeatable method for the next two. Then the next two after that.

    πŸš€ A quick gut check

Ask yourself one question about any task: if you disappeared for three weeks, what breaks?

Whatever breaks is what you've failed to hand off. Start there. That's your delegation map, written in your own gaps.

One founder in the program bought back her Friday afternoons by handing off proposal drafting and the weekly metrics report. Six weeks later she used that time to close a deal she'd been putting off for months. The work she let go of created the space for the work only she could do.

🌍 Ready to actually let go?

Stop rehiring the same responsibilities you already gave away. Learn the handoff that sticks.
