Rewrite Your Story: Change the Narrative You Tell

πŸ’– Make 2026 Your Breakthrough Year

You carry a story about yourself. It runs quietly in the background, and it shapes what you attempt and what you avoid. Maybe yours says "I'm not a numbers person" or "I always quit before the finish." That sentence has done real work in your life. It decided things you never noticed.

Here is the good news. A story you told yourself is a story you can retell. That is the whole premise of Rewrite Your Story.

🧭 Your Narrative Is a Map, Not the Territory

We treat our self-talk like fact. "I'm bad with people." "I missed my window." These feel true because we have repeated them for years.

But a narrative is a map. It is a rough sketch drawn from a handful of old moments, usually painful ones. One bad presentation in 2011 becomes "I can't speak in public" forever. The map got frozen while you kept changing.

Start by writing down three sentences you say about yourself often. Read them out loud. You will hear the ones that no longer fit.

🌱 Find the Origin, Then Loosen the Grip

Most limiting stories have a birthday. Something happened, someone said something, and your brain wrote a rule to keep you safe.

That rule made sense at the time. A kid who got laughed at in class learns "stay quiet." At seven, that was smart. At thirty-seven, it costs you the promotion.

Track one story back to its origin. Ask a simple question: was this always true, or did I decide it once and stop checking? When you separate the old event from today's identity, the grip loosens. You are not erasing the past. You are ending its authority over your next decision.

☯️ Rewrite With Evidence You Already Have

Affirmations alone rarely stick. Telling yourself "I am confident" while your gut disagrees just starts an argument you lose.

Instead, build the new story on real receipts. Look for evidence that contradicts the old line. If your story says "I never finish things," list five things you finished. School. A hard conversation. A 5k. A project nobody asked you to do. The proof exists. You just stopped counting it.

Then write the replacement in plain language. Not "I am a finisher," which feels like a stretch, but "I finish things that matter to me, and here are five." Grounded beats grand every time.

    πŸ’Ό The Rewrite Formula

Here is the sequence we use inside the course.

Name it β†’ Trace it β†’ Test it β†’ Replace it.

Name the story in one honest sentence. Trace it to the moment it started. Test it against evidence from your real life. Replace it with a version that is both truer and more useful. Run any belief through those four steps and it stops feeling like destiny.

Do this once and you feel lighter. Do it as a habit and your choices change. You raise your hand. You send the message. You start the thing you kept postponing.

🀝 What Changes When the Story Changes

People expect a personality transplant. That is not what happens.

What happens is smaller and more powerful. You hesitate for two seconds instead of two weeks. You apply for the role you would have skipped. You speak up in the meeting because "I stay quiet" no longer runs the show. The story shift shows up in ordinary moments, and those moments add up fast.

We have watched this play out with 1,500 leaders. The ones who grow are rarely the most talented in the room. They are the ones who stopped telling themselves a story that kept them small.
